Development of Mobile Application for children with autism spectrum disorders: A development and usability study

Abstract
Mobile applications have enormous potential for education and everyday living of children with autism. In fact, application development for this population is found to be active throughout the world. However, the development is rarely done in Korea. In this study, the process of application development is discussed with detailed graphic examples and guidelines. A small scale usability study was conducted to find out whether the application was actually usable. Development was worked by a team of researcher, director, designer, and two programmers. The process included planning, designing, programming, and revising. Guidelines from a content perspective and operational perspective. Lastly, through usability test, the application was found to be usable in the real-life settings.
